NASS To Send Petroleum Industry Governance Bill To President Buhari

Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (downstream), Joseph Akinlaja, says the National Assembly would soon send back the petroleum industry governance bill to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly matters, Ita Enang, identified in august that one of the reasons for the president declining assent could be because of the provision permitting the petroleum regulatory commission to retain as much as a tenth of revenue generated.

Itang said the president’s position was that the provision unduly increased the funds accruing to the commission to the detriment of the revenue available to the federal, states, federal capital territory and local governments in the country.
