AFCON 2019 Will Not Be Hosted By Cameroon

Cameroon have been stripped of the rights to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This was decided today at the meeting of the Confederation of African Football Extra-ordinary Executive Committee in Accra. The decision was based on two reports that were tabled at the meeting on inspection visits by CAF’s security committee in late October and middle of November.

Cameroon have run the risk of losing the rights to host the event for months, especially when the number of participating teams was increased from sixteen to twenty-four.

A one month window is now open for interested countries to submit their bids.

This is the second time CAF has stripped a country of hosting rights for the continent’s show-piece championships.  Kenya were stripped of hosting the African Nations Cup (CHAN) in January. Morocco hosted that event.

Aigbogun Submits Final List Of Players For AFCON U-20

Flying Eagles Head Coach, Paul Aigbogun, has submitted to the Nigeria Football Federation the final list of twenty players for the 2019 Africa U-20 cup of nations.

The team says it has put behind it the disappointment felt from the cancellation of the international friendly with Saudi Arabia U-20 squad. But organizers have promised that the game would still hold after the U-20 AFCON finals.

NRA Threatens To Withdraw Members From NPFL Over Attack On Referees

The Nigeria Referees Association has threatened to withdraw its members from the Nigeria Professional Football League because of repeated attacks on league referees.

Referee Sam Agba was assaulted by Plateau United fans in Jos and on Sunday, some match officials were attacked by fans of Remo Stars in Sagamu.

Cardiff City New Signing, Emiliano Sala On Missing Aircraft

Police confirms Cardiff City new signing Emiliano Sala was on missing light aircraft that disappeared from the radar in the English Channel on Monday evening. He was traveling from Nantes, France where he went to greet his former teammates before leaving for his new team, Cardiff City.
A major search operation has been underway since the aircraft – which was carrying just Sala and the pilot – went off the radar near the Casquets lighthouse on Alderney.

The club (Cardiff City) said they are “seeking clarification” as to what happened.
A search for the flight is underway. Sala signed for the club in a £15m deal on Saturday.
