Man Arrested In Delta State For Human Trafficking

A twenty-nine year old man has been arrested in Ughelli area of delta state for alleged human trafficking.

The Benin city office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) said Mudiaga has been on the agency’s wanted list after evading arrest two weeks ago by jumping into a river.

Mudiaga is accused of trafficking to Mali for sexual exploitation, a fourteen year old primary five pupil of Udu primary school, Uwehru.  He allegedly accomplished this by handing the girl to his sister who later allegedly transferred her to a woman in Mali.

The agency said the girl was allegedly deceived that she was going to work in a supermarket in Mali. Instead, the girl was said to have been put in the midst of other girls there and was allegedly forced to meet with male customers.

The agency said they are on the hunt for other members of the trafficking syndicate.

Appeal Court Nullifies Zamfara APC Primaries For Gov, Assembly Elections

The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto State, led by Justice Tom Yakubu, has set aside the judgement of a Zamfara High Court on the All Progressives Congress primary election that produced the party’s candidates for the governorship, National and State Assembly elections.

The appellant, Aminu Jaji, a governorship aspirant and serving lawmaker representing Kauran Namoda/ Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency approached the appeal court to set aside the judgement of a High Court in Zamfara that recognized the primary elections held by APC in the state and declared that INEC accept the party’s candidates for the elections.

APC won the March 9 governorship election in the state.

Acting CJN Swears In 13 New Election Petition Tribunal Members

Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Mohammed, has sworn in the remaining 13 members of the 2019 Election Petitions Tribunal.

Mohammed admonished the new members to be of good character and endeavour to live above board.

He also reminded them of the sacred nature of the oath they had taken, stressing it had become a bond between them and their creator.

The Acting Chief Justice says there would be no room for excuses or any performance below approved standards.

The judicial boss informed the new Tribunal members that they were thoroughly examined and later fished out from the numerous judges in the country who were equally eminently qualified for this task.
