FOGON Petitions U.S. Government Over Atiku Visa

The Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations (FOGON), has petitioned the U.S. government making known its displeasure in  the alleged issuance of a travel visa to Atiku Abubakar,the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of next year’s elections.

The group also stormed the U.S. embassy in protest with placards that accuse Atiku of money laundering, and highest level of financial crimes. The group says granting Atiku a U.S. visa signals to Nigerians U.S. interference in the nation’s politics.

The group’s national president, Wole Abiodun called on the U.S. embassy to withdraw the alleged visa as he accused Atiku of money laundering.

For almost thirteen years now, Atiku has been unable to enter the united states following an allegation of money laundering.  U.S. senator William Jefferson, who was accused of conniving with Atiku on the alleged crime, was jailed in the U.S. after the F.B.I. retrieved a million dollars from his freezer, purportedly proceeds of crime.

Kaduna CP Faults El-Rufai's Figures On Adara Killings

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Abdulrahman Ahmad, has faulted figures given by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the number of people killed in the crisis in Adara, Kajuru local government area of the state.

Ahmad says the governor pre-empted police investigations.

Governor El-Rufai had said earlier that 66 Fulani were killed in the local government. Later, he jacked up the figure to 130.

Ogun PDP Crisis Deepens As Party Suspends Abati, Sowunmi, Others

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State worsened on Thursday as a faction loyal to a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, suspended, for anti-party activities, a deputy governorship candidate, Reuben Abati; spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi; and 37 candidates of the party loyal to Kashamu.

The faction led by Sikirulai Ogundele says the suspension is at the instance of the ward and local executive committees which noted that affected members failed to appear before them and also did not respond to queries served on them.
