Tunde Kelani Resigns As National Film And Video Censors Board Boss

Iconic filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, hs resigned as boss of the National Film and Video Censors Board. Kelani blamed his resignation on the make-up of the board, and what he described as contradictions in the mentality of board members.

He said in a statement that his life and career do not fit into the set up of the board. The film icon said the structure is not aware of its functions, or what it is supposed to accomplish. Kelani said this has made it difficult for him to even try to fulfill those functions.

The filmmaker said he has decided to resign because he needed to spend his time and energy on productive, developmental, cultural, social and meaningful projects.

He said the change expected was not possible within such a large group of 52 members.

Ghana Urges People Of African Heritage To 'Come Home'

President Nana Akufo-Addo has designated 2019 the “year of return” both to commemorate the resilience of Africans forced into slavery and to encourage their descendants to “come home”.

He said in September, he knows  the extraordinary achievements and contributions Africans in the diaspora made to the lives of the Americans, and it is important that this symbolic year, 400 years after slavery, their existence and their sacrifices are recognised.

Celebrities including supermodel, Naomi Campbell and actor Idris Elba off the year-long programme by attending the full circle festival in Accra in late December.

A US returnee, Sicley Williams says racial tension she experienced in the united states disappeared almost entirely since she got back to Ghana. Williams has become an unofficial ambassador of a growing movement encouraging other African-Americans to move to Ghana.

Kevin Spacey Charged With Indecent Assault

Oscar-winning actor, Kevin Spacey, has been charged in connection with an allegation that he sexually abused an eighteen-year-old boy at a bar more than two years ago.

A court document shows the actor will be arraigned at Nantucket district court early in January on a single charge of indecent assault and battery on a person who is at least fourteen years old.

Spacey released a video on Youtube on Monday asking people not to rush to judgments without facts. The three-minute video makes no specific reference to the Massachusetts allegation.
