Onazi To Undergo Surgery For Ruptured Achilles, Might Miss AFCON 2019

Rabzonsport FC of Turkey has confirmed that Ogenyi Onazi, Super Eagles midfielder, will undergo surgery for a ruptured achilles on Monday.

Onazi incurred the ruptured achilles in the Turkish side’s 4-1 win on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was taken off the pitch on a stretcher in the 32nd minute following the injury.   He is out of play for the rest of the season and may not appear at the 2019 AFCON.

Sochaux Coach, Daf Extends Contract With Club

Forty one year-old former Senegal international defender Omar Daf has extended his contact as coach of French club Sochaux until June 2021.

Daf was appointed coach of the second division side last November.

The former French champions are currently just two points above the relegation zone in Ligue 2 with 17 games left this season.

Earlier this week Sochaux signed former Liverpool and Mali midfielder, Momo Sissoko.

Daf played 14 seasons for Sochaux across two spells, previously coached the club in an interim capacity in 2013 and 2015.

Super Falcons To Start Preparation For Cyprus Women’s Cup After 4 Nation Tournament

Super Falcons of Nigeria, are expected to return to the country on Wednesday after finishing third at a four-nation invitational tournament in China.

Officials of the Super Falcons have confirmed that the team will immediately start preparations for the Cyprus Women’s Cup, which will hold in turkey from Friday to early march.

After the 12–nation invitational tournament in Cyprus, the Super Falcons will either play Spain or Canada before a final training camp in Austria that could also include two tune-up games.

Nigeria is the only African country to have featured in all previous editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since the competition was launched in china in 1991.

France Extradites CAR Football Official Wanted By ICC

France has extradited to the Hague, a senior Central African Republic football official wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes committed in the C.A.R.

A committee member of the Confederation of African Football  Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona, was arrested in Paris last month for coordinating attacks on Muslims in his country. He has denied the allegations.

Patrice had declared himself political co-ordinator of the Christian anti-Balaka militia. The group has been blamed for hundreds of killings.  The ICC says Patrice was responsible for murder, torture and the recruitment of child soldiers.
