Moses Peter Wins 2018 Africa Scrabble Championship In Kenya
Nigeria’s Scrabble national team captain, Moses Peter, has emerged as the new Africa Scrabble Champion in the 13th edition of the championship held at the Resort Centre, Kiriyangi, Kenya at the weekend.

The Africa tournament, which featured seven countries that included Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia with 62 players in attendance, saw Nigeria once again stamping its feet at the African scrabble scene by retaining both the individual and country titles for the 12th time.

The national scrabble coach, Anthoney Ikolo, commended the 11 players that took part in the Africa championship and for giving their best and flying high the nation’s flag in Kenya.

He noted that the country’s representatives would not relent in dominating the continent in the game scrabble in Africa, adding that Nigeria’s success in the East Africa country could be attributed to hard work and determination to succeed by the players.

AFCON Qualifier: Super Eagles Beat Seychelles 3-1

The Super Eagles on Friday defeated the Pirates of Seychelles in their last group Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. The encounter ended 3-1 in favour of the host, Nigeria. The Super Eagles finished top  of Group E with 13 points.

Nigeria have already qualified for the AFCON in Egypt after they were held to a 1-1 by South Africa in Johannesburg last November.

Libya will host South Africa on Sunday in the last game of the group. The Bafana Bafana are currently sitting second in the group with nine points followed by Libya with seven points.

Seychelles ended their AFCON qualifying campaign with just one point.

FIFA Bans Togolese Referee For Life

FIFA has banned for life Togolese referee and football official Kokou Fagla after finding him guilty of corruption.

Football’s world governing body ruled he accepted bribes to manipulate an unspecified international friendly.

The findings came from FIFA’s investigation into various international matches that convicted match-fixer Wilson Perumal tried to manipulate for betting purposes.

Fagla has been “banned for life from all football-related activities at both national and international level.”   a three-thousand- dollar fine has also been slapped on him.
