Nigerian Government Secures $200M Loan For Electrification Project

The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured a fresh $200 million loan to fund Nigeria’s electrification projects.

African Development Bank has approved $150 million sovereign loan to the Nigerian Government to co-finance these projects, while $50 million is approved from the Africa growing together fund. AGTF is a $2 billion facility sponsored by the people’s bank of China and is administered by African Development Bank.

Last year, Nigeria received a world bank approval for a $350 million loan for this same project.

Acting CJN Swears In 13 New Election Petition Tribunal Members

Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Mohammed, has sworn in the remaining 13 members of the 2019 Election Petitions Tribunal.

Mohammed admonished the new members to be of good character and endeavour to live above board.

He also reminded them of the sacred nature of the oath they had taken, stressing it had become a bond between them and their creator.

The Acting Chief Justice says there would be no room for excuses or any performance below approved standards.

The judicial boss informed the new Tribunal members that they were thoroughly examined and later fished out from the numerous judges in the country who were equally eminently qualified for this task.

No Certificates For Okorocha, Others Declared Under Duress - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission is insisting it would not reward bad conduct by presenting certificates of return to candidates who allegedly forced electoral officials to declare them winners.

The Commission’s Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye said INEC would wait on court judgements or decisions of an Election Petitions Tribunal to guide its actions in such cases of results declared under duress.

Okoye said apart from the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, there were other candidates from Niger, Benue and Akwa Ibom states who were also denied certificates of return because they were declared winners under duress.
