US House Of Reps Votes To End Government Shutdown

The Democrat-controlled US House of Representatives has voted to end a partial government shutdown – but the move looks certain to be vetoed by President Trump.

Trump has said he will reject any measure that does not provide funding for his proposed US-Mexico border wall.

New House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, no funding for the wall would be made available while the Republican-run Senate has said it may not even vote on the legislation.

Republicans there will not back measures that the president does not support and called the Democrats’ move a “total nonstarter” and a “political sideshow” said the Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell.

The legislation passed by the House of Representatives would fund homeland security operations until 8 February and fund several other agencies until September.

The partial US government shutdown began when Congress and Trump failed to reach an agreement over a budget bill in December.

Republicans had passed an initial funding bill including five billion dollars for the wall, when they still had a majority in the House, but they could not get the necessary 60 votes in the 100-seat Senate.

Democrats won the majority of the House in the November mid-term elections, and the new representatives were sworn in on Thursday.

The president is due to resume budget talks with top Democrats and Republicans on Friday.

Over 4000 Migrants Are Seeking To Enter Mexico From Central America

More than four thousand migrants from central America are seeking to enter Mexico legally instead of going to the united states.  Mexico’s immigration policy has recently changed.  Migrants seeking us asylum are now required to apply first in Mexico.

International institute of migration reports that four days after arriving at the Guatemalan-Mexico border, four thousand migrants from various south and central American countries, have requested permission to enter Mexico on Sunday.

Mexican President, Andres Manue Lopez Obrador, has promised that the human rights of migrants will be protected, and has arranged for a regular and orderly entry by giving humanitarian visas which have helped avert episodes of great tension, like the chaos that greeted a group of central American migrants who illegally entered Mexico in October.
