2019 Elections: INEC Omits APC Governorship And House Candidates Names In Final List

INEC Distributes Sensitive Election Materials

The list of candidates for the March governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers and Zamfara States released by the Independent National Electoral Commission is missing the names of the All Progressives Congress candidates.

The commission also omitted names of APC candidates for the national assembly in its final list two weeks ago.

The commission waded into the controversy in Ogun State between two PDP governorship candidates and decided in favor of senator Buruji Kashamu over house of representatives member Ladi Adebutu.  The commission says its decision was based on a court order.

In Abia State the commission chose Uche Ogah who had been battling for the ticket with Chief Ikechi Emenike.

INEC has added on the list of candidates for Lagos State governorship candidates, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC, and Jimi Agbaje, PDP.

APC has reacted against INEC’S decision in Zamfara and Rivers States.  The party has accused INEC of double standards in rejecting APC candidates in Zamfara but accepting PDP candidates in Kano State.

Kaduna CP Faults El-Rufai's Figures On Adara Killings

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Abdulrahman Ahmad, has faulted figures given by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the number of people killed in the crisis in Adara, Kajuru local government area of the state.

Ahmad says the governor pre-empted police investigations.

Governor El-Rufai had said earlier that 66 Fulani were killed in the local government. Later, he jacked up the figure to 130.

Ogun PDP Crisis Deepens As Party Suspends Abati, Sowunmi, Others

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State worsened on Thursday as a faction loyal to a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, suspended, for anti-party activities, a deputy governorship candidate, Reuben Abati; spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi; and 37 candidates of the party loyal to Kashamu.

The faction led by Sikirulai Ogundele says the suspension is at the instance of the ward and local executive committees which noted that affected members failed to appear before them and also did not respond to queries served on them.
