SERAP Sues Fashola Over Non-Disclosure Of Power Contractors

The Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project has taken Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola to court over his refusal to disclose names and details of contractors and companies that allegedly collected money for electricity projects but failed to execute them.

SERAP is asking Fashola to give names of fraudulent contractors starting from the return of democracy in 1999 to 2018

SERAP initially gave Fashola fourteen days to publish the names and companies, the organization says publishing the names would make it hard for contractors and companies to get away with complicity in grand corruption

The organization says the citizens have a right to see that freedom of information act is enforced where there is an infraction of the right of information

The suit is asking the court to compel Fashola to compile and make available the documents containing the names of those who have allegedly stolen from Nigeria through electricity contracts.

Kaduna CP Faults El-Rufai's Figures On Adara Killings

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Abdulrahman Ahmad, has faulted figures given by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the number of people killed in the crisis in Adara, Kajuru local government area of the state.

Ahmad says the governor pre-empted police investigations.

Governor El-Rufai had said earlier that 66 Fulani were killed in the local government. Later, he jacked up the figure to 130.

Ogun PDP Crisis Deepens As Party Suspends Abati, Sowunmi, Others

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State worsened on Thursday as a faction loyal to a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, suspended, for anti-party activities, a deputy governorship candidate, Reuben Abati; spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi; and 37 candidates of the party loyal to Kashamu.

The faction led by Sikirulai Ogundele says the suspension is at the instance of the ward and local executive committees which noted that affected members failed to appear before them and also did not respond to queries served on them.
