Buhari Congratulates Ayuba Wabba On Re-Election As NLC President

Ayuba Wabba Re-Elected As NLC President

President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja, congratulated Ayuba Wabba on a his re-election as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress. Buhari also sent his congratulations message to other members of the National Executive Committee for their election.

He further said he looked forward to working closely with Wabba, NLC Central Working Committee (CWC) and the National Executive Council of the Congress to fulfil the extraordinary promise of partnership between government and labour as he also wished them a successful tenure.

Ayuba Wabba, president of the  NLC, won re-election to a second four-year term.  He will lead a team of sixteen members in the national administrative council to direct NLC affairs during his term.

In his acceptance speech, Wabba said his immediate responsibility is to ensure the new minimum wage is implemented by the federal and state governments.

Wabba said the labour movement would continue to obey directives from members, and would always be up front with the truth to protect the interests of the working class.

Kaduna CP Faults El-Rufai's Figures On Adara Killings

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Abdulrahman Ahmad, has faulted figures given by Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the number of people killed in the crisis in Adara, Kajuru local government area of the state.

Ahmad says the governor pre-empted police investigations.

Governor El-Rufai had said earlier that 66 Fulani were killed in the local government. Later, he jacked up the figure to 130.

Ogun PDP Crisis Deepens As Party Suspends Abati, Sowunmi, Others

The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State worsened on Thursday as a faction loyal to a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, suspended, for anti-party activities, a deputy governorship candidate, Reuben Abati; spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi; and 37 candidates of the party loyal to Kashamu.

The faction led by Sikirulai Ogundele says the suspension is at the instance of the ward and local executive committees which noted that affected members failed to appear before them and also did not respond to queries served on them.
