The Somali Football Federation (SFF) has confirmed that its under-20 team will host Eritrea’s under-20’s in a friendly match in Mogadishu on Saturday.
The match at the Benadir stadium will be the first international football game at any level in Somalia for more than 30 years
European Clubs May Boycott FIFA’s Club World Cup After Proposed 24-Team Expansion
FIFA have approved a revised 24-team Club World Cup starting in 2021 despite top European clubs saying they would boycott the tournament.
The new competition is expected to include eight teams from Europe.
It will run every four years and take place from June to July in the slot currently used for the World Cup warm-up event, the confederations cup.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino is happy about the development.
The club world cup is currently held every December and features seven teams from six confederations, but the competition is largely ignored by European fans.
Apart from eight European clubs, the new tournament would see six teams from South America, three each from Africa, Asia and North and Central America and one from Oceania.
It has been suggested each club could earn £50m by taking part.
UCL Quarter-Final Draw: Tottenham To Face Man City As Man Utd Get Barcelona
Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United are the four English teams in the Champions League draw the other four teams are Spanish champions Barcelona, Dutch four-time winners Ajax, Italian champions Juventus and Portuguese champions Porto.
It is the first time since 2009 that four English sides are in the last eight of the Champions League.
The last English side to win the competition was Chelsea in 2012 although Liverpool made the final last season.
Tottenham have been drawn against Manchester City in an all-English Champions League quarter-final tie, while Manchester United will face Barcelona.
FIFA Bans Former Guatemalan FA President Salguero
Football governing body FIFA has banned Guatemalan Football Association former president Rafael Salguero from all football-related activities for seven years for bribery.
Salguero, a former member of the FIFA and the executive committee of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), has been found guilty of bribery in violation of FIFA code of ethics.
He was investigated for “various bribery schemes during the 2006 to 2014 period related to CONCACAF and FIFA competitions, as well as the illegal reselling of tickets for the FIFA World Cup.
Salguero is one of 16 high-ranking officials who have been indicted in the U.S. In connection with FIFA corruption scandals.
